21st CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS (CCLC)

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program assists in the development of several components associated with the After School Program.

A large portion of our effort is devoted to the establishment or expansion of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities for children. We strive to assist children in meeting state and local standards in core academic programs and offer literacy support and other educational services to the adult family member or participating students.

Our desire is that the children in the after school program will demonstrate educational proficiency and exhibit positive behavioral changes. The core academic areas to be offered are literacy, mathematics, and science. In addition to the academic interventions we offer high quality recreational, developmental and culturally enriching programming.

Mirroring the successful philosophy of the Title I After School Programs, the 21st CCLC is involved in the development and implementation of plans to address the educational, health, social service, cultural, and recreational needs of the community.

Our program offers tutoring, assistance to English language learners, and educational experiences that are not typically available in a traditional school setting. In conjunction with the student's regular day teacher we develop and implement success plans that target educational goals for the individual child. This helps to align our curriculum with state standards and benchmarks and allows after school staff to monitor improvements and areas of concern.

Some of our after school activities include Boy and Girl Scouts, volleyball, swimming, and skating. We want to invite you to come and see the great things that are happening after school. We are proud to be a part of Federal Programs and their mission to help children and their families.

After School Program - 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) are located at the following schools:

Arts Academy at Bella Vista
Cameo Elementary
James Bickley
La Casita Elementary
Lockwood Elementary
Parkview Elementary
