Clovis Municipal Schools' policy is that no child goes hungry. This policy is adopted by all schools in the district and is proactive in parent notification. Parents and/or guardians are responsible to maintain their child's account throughout the entire school year.
The policy is as follows:
| Elementary School |
5 Charges |
| Middle & High School |
5 Charges |
| Faculty |
1 Charge |
- There is a no charge policy for anyone as of May 1st for the remainder of the school year.
- When a student's account goes under $2.00, they will be verbally notified about their balance. Also, a weekly balance report will be sent home in the student's folder indicating if they have a negative balance. Also, you will be able to check your child’s balance on our Website.
- After five (5) charges, the student will receive either a peanut butter and jelly or a cheese sandwich as their main entree.
- Every child will be treated with dignity and respect by the Child Nutrition staff. Parents will have five (5) days to satisfy the balance, return a completed Free or Reduced meal application, or make other arrangements with the school principal.
Who can get Free or Reduced Meals?
Children in households getting food stamps and most foster children can get free meals regardless of your income, upon receipt of an approved application. Also, your children can get free meals if your household income is within the Free/Reduced limits on the Federal Income Guidelines. You may apply at any time during the school year if your household size goes up, income goes down, or you start getting food stamps or other benefits. Meal applications are available at the school cafeteria, school office, or at Central Office.
Provision II Schools: Provision II Schools this year will be the Arts Academy at Bella Vista, Cameo, Highland, James Bickley, La Casita, Parkview Elementary Schools, and Marshall Middle School. These schools will not collect Free and Reduced Applications and the students will not pay for their meals. Lockwood will be reestablishing Base Year and applications will be required for the 2011 – 2012 School Year.
Breakfast in the Classroom Schools: Breakfast in the Classroom Schools will be providing breakfast at no charge to students at the following schools: Barry, Arts Academy at Bella Vista, Cameo, Highland, James Bickley, La Casita, Lockwood, Parkview, and Ranchvale.
Free and Reduced Applications: A household needs to complete only one new Free and Reduced Application every year with the exception of Provision II Schools. Families that qualified for meals last year must turn in a new 2011 - 2012 application. To avoid processing delays applications will be available at Central Office after July 1, 2011. Letters of Notification will be mailed to the child's home as soon as the application has been processed. If there are any questions, please contact the Child Nutrition Office at (575) 769-4300. |
